Activities
Rhythmic Drumming and Core Healing
SECOND AND FOURTH SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH
The drumming starts at 6pm, but why not come for 5 and bring a picnic? That way you have a chance to meet strangers who may turn into friends with a common interest. (That might not just be drumming, but also fire dancing!)
Entrance is R20 (under 12 free.)
If you want to have a lesson in drumming, this can be arranged between 5 and 5:30pm at a cost of R40, and if you need to hire a drum, that will be R30 for the evening.
For both these contact Lee on 082 826 4970.
The grange does have neighbours, including a Carmelite convent, so the evening will punctually close by 10pm.
The Dance of Life
Have you ever wondered how would it feel to be at ease in your body, trusting its wisdom and feeling free to enjoy yourself as a sensuous being, open to the miracle of life??
Biodanza is a very powerful system that invites us to re-connect with our own life force and re-awaken to the beauty and pleasure of being alive and able to move and relate. It leads us gradually into deeper contact and permission to live our instinctive passions, as we learn to become the music and to express the emotions that arise from that experience, we dance our uniqueness, we dance our lives!
Costs: First experience is free.
Dates: 1st and 3rd Saturday afternoons of each month at 3pm
Walking the healing Labyrinth
Just inside the gate on the right hand side, you'll find the labyrinth.
"Labyrinth", mind - not maze, not spiral. It is a single path wound back and forth some 500m long. Set your foot on it and start a leisurely walk. After 10 minutes or so you will arrive at the centre, where you can sit a while, rest, and think about things calmly and tranquilly.
It's really a little pilgrimage to the centre of your being.
Others may be on the path too. No matter. They are on their own journey. Acknowledge them with a nod and return to your own quest.
In due course, retrace your steps to the normal world. it will not be the old you who comes back.
If the experience pleasses you, keep an eye out for the labyrinth workshops which are coming.
The labyrinth is a mysterious, ancient symbol that has captured human imagination for thousands of years. In our increasingly chaotic world its introspective, coiling path is attracting more and more people across the globe in search of inner peace and greater self-awareness. Walking the healing labyrinth invites us on a meditative journey, helping us to discover joy at the centre of the labyrinth and, ultimately, at the centre of our lives.
The Grange garden labyrinth is open to all at all times so come and walk the Path of the Labyrinth and discover for yourself the Peace and Tranquillity.
The total walking distance within the garden labyrinth is 1 km.
May Peace Prevail on Earth
A Peace Pole is a hand-crafted monument that displays the message and prayer May Peace Prevail on Earth on each of its four or six sides, usually in different languages. There are more than 200,000 Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace.
Usually a Peace Pole is eight feet tall (2m 50cm) with the bottom "planted" in the ground. It may be constructed from any material that is environmentally sound. Peace Poles are often planted to commemorate special occasions, such as holidays, anniversaries, events and festivals. Or any date may be chosen to dedicate a place to peace.
Whatever the location, the presence of a Peace Pole announces that this is a special place, dedicated to peace on Earth. Planting a Peace Pole is a way to bring people together on an inspiring project to join in a network of peace consciousness that is emerging all over the world.
When you plant a Peace Pole in your community, you are linking with people all over the world who have planted their Poles in the same spirit of peace. Every Peace Pole proclaims the prayer May Peace Prevail on Earth in the language of the country and often several other languages as well.
There more than 200,000 Peace Poles around the world are on all continents, in every country you can think of. They are in simple places, such as churches and gardens, and extraordinary ones, such as at the Pyramids of El Giza, Egypt or the Magnetic North Pole in Canada. They promote healing of conflict and the bringing of peace into the world.
